Decision day for 101m wind turbine near Aylesbury
A protest against the turbine
Plans to build a wind turbine bigger than Big Ben near Aylesbury will be voted on by councillors today.
Jeremy Elgin wants to build the 101m structure at his farm in Ford, claiming it would generate electricity for 350 homes.
However, opponents of the scheme say it would be an eyesore, create noise pollution and not generate enough electricity to make it worthwhile.
The council case officer looking at the proposals has recommended councillors refuse planning permission because of the visual impact it would have on the area.
Members of Aylesbury Vale District Council’s development control committee are meeting at 1pm to discuss the plan.
Opponents of the turbine are expected to protest outside the council offices from midday.
