The body of a man found in an Aylesbury stream has been named as Prabakarann Balachandran.

A post-mortem revealed 25-year-old Mr Balachandran, of Oakfield Road, drowned. An inquest into his death, which is not being treated as suspicious, was opened and adjourned on Wednesday.

Floral tributes have been left near the site where his body was found.

Police were called at 7.31am on February 3 by a member of the public who found a number of items, including clothing, at the side of the stream adjacent to the Grand Union Canal off Oakfield Road.

A search of the area was carried out and just after 8.50am a body was located in the stream, close to where the items were found. Thames Valley Police’s Specialist Search and Recovery Team recovered the body.

Det Ch Insp Sarah Poolman, who lead the inquiry, said: “Although the death is being treated as unexplained, we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.”
