Police have appealed for witnesses following the murder of an Aylesbury man.

Mark Austin, of Coxhill Way, died at Stoke Mandeville Hospital on Friday after an altercation at a Harcourt Green house at around 12.56am on Thursday.

A 49-year-old man arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of GBH remains sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Det Ch Insp Kevin Brown, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have a team of officers working on this inquiry and are working hard to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Harcourt Green area around the time of the incident to come forward. In particular, we would like to speak to anyone who saw a dark coloured Volkswagen Passat, which was a private hire vehicle which may have had the appearance of a normal car, leaving this area between 11pm on Wednesday and 1am on Thursday.

“Following the incident, we believe this vehicle may have dropped someone off in the Arundel Green area of Aylesbury, possibly between 12.15am and 1.20am on Thursday, so would also appeal to anyone in that area who saw this vehicle or the person getting out of it to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 and quote reference number URN 438 02/01/13. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org
