An Aylesbury man charged with attempted murder has appeared in court.

Darren Stenhouse, of Belgrave Road, was charged in connection with an attack last week.

Police were called to the street where the 38 year old lives at 11.40am on March 5 after a woman was seriously assaulted.

The 30-year-old victim was taken to hospital with head and arm injuries. She has since been discharged.

Following a search of the surrounding area, police found and arrested Mr Stenhouse in Faraday Road at 12.24pm on the day of the attack.

Detectives questioned Mr Stenhouse for several hours before charging him with attempted murder.

He appeared in Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court last Thursday for initial proceedings before the case was transferred to Reading Crown Court.

The defendant is next due to appear in court on May 28 for a plea and case management hearing.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
