Assault, blackmail, attempted burglary: Alleged crime ‘spree’ of runaway prisoner who was free for ONLY a matter of hours
HMP Spring Hill
A runaway prisoner allegedly committed assault, an attempted burglary and blackmailed someone all in the space of a few hours.
Lee Martin, 33, failed to return to HMP Spring Hill in Grendon Underwood before a police helicopter and ‘heavy presence’ on the ground captured him in Meadow Park, Stoke Mandeville, at 7pm on Tuesday.
After more than 24 hours of questioning Mr Martin was charged on all three offences and with making off without payment.
Twitter was full of people asking what was going on with some saying they had seen seven police cars in the area.
Mr Martin is due to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates today (Thursday).
