A couple who celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary this month have said the secret to 60 years of marriage is the support they give each other.
Albert and Janet Rickard celebrated the milestone by holding a party at The Barn in Hulcott.
The couple, who have two sons, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, chose to hold the party in the Vale as almost all their offspring live in the area.
The pair said they are as happy as they have ever been.
Albert, 85, said: “We have had a few ups and downs but I think we have finally cracked it!
“Our secret is that we always look after one another.
“I remember going to the Prince of Wales pub to socialise with some friends and that was when I first met Janet.”
The couple, who were both born in Aylesbury, lived in Holman Street before moving to Dorset in 2001 to retire.
Albert said he found the town too busy for his liking.
He said: “Even back then, the amount of development was crazy and the traffic was horrendous.
“When I was a boy, Aylesbury felt like a proper market town but now it has lost that atmosphere, in my opinion.”
Janet, 79, added that Aylesbury still felt like home.
She said: “We have lovely memories of our time there.”
