Becca Harty asks people in Aylesbury town centre whether they back proposals to ban smoking in cars when children are present.

Fiona Campbell, Winslow:

“Yes, children can’t protest, especially if it is their parents. I remember adults doing it when I was a child, and I now have bad asthma, so there’s a chance it was directly linked.”

Takwama Hove, Southcourt:

“Yes, it will affect the child and because they have no choice it should be made illegal. They can’t consent to it, so adults shouldn’t do it.”

Kiera Marley, 10, Southcourt:

“Yes, it affects children and the people around them as well. If they don’t like it they can’t say anything against them.”

Alison Skipp, Southcourt:

“Yes, I don’t think anyone should, especially if there are children in the car, but also generally when there are other people in it as well.”

Peter Linford, Bedgrove:

“I don’t think it should be made illegal, but maybe just advise and guide people. I think things should avoid being made illegal if they can”.
