Two Vale women are taking part in a contest to lose weight this new year – and raising money for charity in the process.

Sue Templar from Aylesbury and Lisa Woodbridge from Aston Clinton are taking part in Iain Rennie Hospice’s sponsored ‘biggest loser’ competition.

They will follow an eating programme devised by nutritional expert Melanie Ryding and will enjoy a free gym membership for the 18 week duration of the scheme, with access to all gym facilities, a personal trainer and a weekly dedicated exercise class.

Sue will be based at the Nuffield Health Gym in Aylesbury and Lisa at the Core Strength gym in Halton, Wendover.

Sue said she hopes the scheme will work where other weight loss regimes she has tried have failed.

She said: “I have lost weight before, but not managed to keep it off.

“This time, I think the support offered by the programme will make the difference and I’m planning to be very public about it. I will be posting regular updates on Facebook and carrying my sponsor form with me at all times.

“Raising money to help local patients and their families will be a great motivator and I’m looking forward to having more self-confidence and feeling comfortable about having pictures taken with my children.”

Lisa added: “I’m really excited about taking part in the scheme. I have tried to lose weight countless times before with minimal success but this time I feel that with the support of the professionals on the programme and the backing of my friends, colleagues and family on the fundraising side, I have every chance of success.

“This is the most positive I’ve felt about anything in years.”

Anyone interested in joining Lisa and Sue in the competition should go to www.irghbiggestloser.org and download an application form. The closing date for receiving completed applications is January 14.
