Preparations are well underway ahead of tomorrow’s (Saturday) sporty Thame Carnival – and organisers want you to make as much noise as possible!
The theme for this year’s event is sports and recreation and the fun gets going at midday with a parade through the town.
The lively and colourful parade is expected to arrive at the Recreation Ground at 1.30pm.
Activities begin at 1pm and will continue throughout the afternoon.
These include entertainment from Thame Youth Theatre, Thame Stagecoach, Kaso Studios, a local Zumba dancing group, a steel band playing live and a dog show courtesy of Pet Care.
There will also be an array of stalls, a barbecue, refreshments and a beer tent.
A Lancaster bomber aircraft is also due to fly over at 1.35pm.
Organiser Sue Martin-Downhill said: “With the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games coming up we decided to opt for a sporting theme this year.
“It is the first year that myself and the committee have organised it and we have been blown away at the generosity and support people have given us.
“It has been great to see the community spirit that has shone through as we have worked on organising this year’s event.
“We are hoping to see lots of people make as much noise as possible and generally having a good time.
“A lot of us on the organising committee remember attending this event when we were children and our motivation behind getting involved was wanting to make it a great day out for our children to remember.”
Entry to the event is free. The High Street is closed between noon and 1.30pm to allow the parade to take place.
