Footwear retailer Shoe Zone has announced it is moving from its current store and relocating to a new unit within Friars Square.
The company’s property director Naomi Shefford said: “We have agreed terms and exchanged contracts on a new unit due to the planned redevelopment work to the entrance and front of the centre where our current unit is.
“The new store is due to open in early September and the old store will close simultaneously.”
Shoe Zone will move to the empty Unit 22 at Friars Square Shopping Centre next to River Island.
Friars Square Centre manager Andy Margieson said: “At present there are no plans to move any other stores.”
Work is underway to convert former council offices above the centre into 50 residential apartments.
It is scheduled to be completed in early 2015.
Mr Margieson said: “Shoe Zone’s move is because of further development work at the centre but I can’t say any more than that at this stage.”
