A businesswoman was stunned after customers planned a surprise party to celebrate her shop’s first birthday.
Judy Zappone, owner of Sew Patchwork, was greeted with balloons, cakes and pink champagne by her regulars in celebration of the business’ first anniversary.
Judy, of Ford, near Aylesbury, first opened the patchwork paradise in June last year after finding success holding a market stall, and has seen her following steadily grow ever since.
The former solicitor said: “I’m very lucky to have such wonderful ladies as customers. I’d like to say a big thank you to them.”
Sew Patchwork is a hidden gem selling fabrics and material tucked away in Swan Walk, Thame.
Judy, who lives with husband Darren and their 15-year-old cat Cosi, said a holiday to the West Country sparked her love of the craft.
She said: “I always had this longing to try it, but I think it started when I visited a patchwork exhibition in Tintagel when I was on holiday in Cornwall.
“That planted the seed and it was then that I decided that I would have a go at it.”
The 35-year-old enrolled on a Bucks Adult Education course and nurtured her love of patchworking before she decided to share it with others. For more info, search Sew Patchwork on Facebook or visit www.sewpatchwork.co.uk.
