Police are hunting a woman who punched a pensioner in the stomach before stealing her handbag in Aylesbury town centre.

The victim, a woman in her sixties, was stood by the John Hampden statue in Market Square when she was approached by the thief who demanded money from her.

She refused and the woman punched her in the stomach before running away with her handbag containing keys, a bus pass and medical bracelets.

The mugger is white and wore a white coat.

The incident happened at around midday on Friday May 23, police said today.
