Anthony Stansfeld believes his main selling point is his experience, having been a member of the Thames Valley Police Authority, helping to drive a reduction in crime, and has served in the army and run a large business.
Mr Stansfeld takes a ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach to what the new commissioner needs to do.
He said: “I don’t think changing something hugely is a good idea unless there is something fundamentally wrong. I believe this is a good police force that has been well run.”
He did say detection rates need improving and suggested setting up crime boards to report to the commissioner.
