This year’s Music In The Park was ‘the best one we’ve ever had’, according to the chairman of its organising committee.

More than 5,400 people enjoyed the live performances in the sun at Elms Park on Sunday and with around £10,000 raised, more park improvements are on the way.

Last year’s proceeds have recently helped install lighting in the park to make it a safer place to walk through at night.

Now, there are plans to bring nine new benches to the park as well as more flower beds and trees.

But chairman of the festival organising committee Nigel Champken-Woods said town residents will decide.

He said: “We will wait and see what people want but it was a fantastic event, a total success. In the first year, we would have been happy with 500 people but we nearly had half the population of Thame - I’m over the moon.”
