An Aylesbury woman looking for love says she had ‘the time of her life’ taking part in ITV’s hit dating show Take Me Out.
Monica Alcorano, 20, was surprised to be called up for the show because she did not send in an application herself, suspecting friends may have done it for her.
However, the singer-songwriter is glad they did as she says she has made ‘friends for life’ with other girls on the show.
Monica, who went to St Louis Primary School and Quarrendon School, said: “It was such a shock. I was really taken back when they called me.
“But it has been a blessing in disguise and such a good experience.
“You would imagine that there would be a bit of a rivalry between the girls but everyone was so supportive of each other.
“It was so sad to see the girls going off on dates because we knew we weren’t going to see them again.”
The show sees men try to get a date with one of 30 single ladies, with couples who get paired up jetting off to Isle of Fernando’s (or Tenerife, to give it its real name).
Comedian Paddy McGuinness hosts the programme and Monica described him as being ‘like a father’ to everyone on the show.
She said: “Paddy was amazing. If you’re stuck and don’t know what to say he always says not to worry and gives you a few seconds to think about it and he makes you feel so comfortable.”
The aspiring musician performs RnB and pop songs which she writes herself.
She has previously been in a band but will be releasing her solo EP next month.
Monica was involved in filming for the show in November and December and hopes the experience will help her career.
She said: “It was great to be on TV and get used to being on camera.”
Monica will be appearing on the show from Saturday, January 18.
Tune in to ITV from 8.30pm to find out if she gets a date with Mr Right.
