A bunch of budding braniacs are through to the semi finals of the National Inter-School Quiz Championship.
Aidan Hanley, 11, Olivia Newman, nine, Daniel Einchcomb, nine and Lizzie Glasspool, eight, scored 2080 in the regional heats of the competition, which has set a high standard for other teams to beat in the semis.
The Haddenham Community Junior School pupils will now compete against 11 other teams to win a place in the summer finals of the competition.
Teacher Caroline Sweeney said: “We are extremely proud of our team who led from the start of the quiz, and only fell behind in one question.
“Their astounding general knowledge culminated in a score of 2080, which according to the quizmaster is a great national score and sets them in good stead for the semi finals.
“The children were absolutely thrilled and are looking forward to the next stage.”
During the heats, which were held at Long Crendon School, the pupils used personal wireless handsets to make their answers to 40 challenging general knowledge questions.
The entire quiz was projected on a big screen which was viewed by the other teams are their many supporters.
The competition is the largest in the country, and more than 300,000 youngsters take part.
