A professional economist and part time chocolatier is vying for your vote to become Thame’s next MP.

Labour’s Sam Juthani, 26, will stand against the current MP Tory John Howell and UKIP’s Barry Cooper next year, and is enthusiastic about what he can bring to his constituency, in the meantime.

Following his selection, Mr Juthani said: “I’m proud and excited to be standing for the Labour Party and will work across the seat to spread our positive vision for South Oxfordshire.

“I will stand up for the ordinary people of Thame and support vital public services that are suffering from Government cuts.”

Mr Juthani, who lives in Oxford, previously worked at the HM Treasury and worked to tackle child poverty and budget coordination.

He said: “I think there’s a lot I can do because of my background as an economist, because I have a real deep experience of the major issues that are facing us.”

He has already met with councillors to discuss local issues, including the development of the cattle market. In his spare time, he loves running, playing cricket and of course making chocolate truffles.
