Four friends showed their Olympic spirit to take on a triathlon at Dorney Lake and raised £2,300 for the Iain Rennie Hospice.

Emma Redding, of Shabbington, swam, cycled and ran in memory of her late mother Sue Walker, who died after a 10 month battle with cancer in June, aged 65.

She was joined by her three friends Lisa Elkins, Nicky Coates and Becca Patterson, all from Chinnor, who were friends of her late mother.

Emma said: “Although the challenge was tough, and the lake was cold, the generous sponsorship from family and friends ensured we kept our heads up and pushed to the end.

“The Iain Rennie nurses cared for mum in the way that any daughter would want for her beloved mother and gave my father fantastic support.

“Both of them looked forward to the nurses arriving.

“All the other team members were friends of my mum and have fond memories of her.”

The team has raised £2,300 so far and will be looking at adding to this with challenges in 2013

A Christmas shopping event in late 2012 is also planned.
