Heavy rain has caused problems in parts of Aylesbury Vale over the weekend with flood warnings in place in some areas.

Firefighters rescued a man whose car had become stuck in floodwater in Marsh early on Sunday morning.

Three crews were called to the scene in Marsh Lane at 4.17am.

There was also flooding in a Bishopstone workshop in the early hours of Sunday.

Firefighters were called at 1.49am and used a light portable pump and sandbags to deal with the situation in Ayres Yard, Marsh Lane. It is the second time in a week this area has been flooded.

Events at the weekend were also disrupted, with a charity craft market in Aylesbury’s Market Square called off due to high winds.

The Environment Agency has issued more than 260 flood alerts across the country, including for the River Thame from Marsworth to Dorchester.

North Aylesbury, Long Marston, Cuddington, Thame and Rowsham are all considered to be at risk of flooding, with more rain expected.

Levels in the River Thame are rising slowly and will continue to do so through today but the rain is expected to ease from tomorrow.
