An Aston Clinton family has had Christmas presents stolen from under their tree - but one neighbouring business is doing all it can to bring some festive cheer back to the home.

Crooks targeted the London Road home between 6.16pm and 8.20pm on Friday (December 20), breaking in by smashing a window.

They then ransacked the property, stealing various items including Christmas presents.

After hearing about the burglary, Mark Duncan and colleagues at A Car 2 Go decided to help the family, who have two young children, by asking people to donate presents.

Mr Duncan, who doesn’t know the family, said: “The police came over and told us about it because they wanted access to our CCTV.

“Taking the kids’ presents from under the tree is the modern day Scrooge.

“If someone had done that to my kids I would have been crying.”

The company has so far collected about a dozen presents for the family and will be handing them over on Christmas Eve.

Mr Duncan said: “We thought if we can do anything to help them out we would and have bought them presents ourselves.

“I put it on Facebook and Twitter and it’s gone a bit viral. We have had loads of people dropping presents in.”

Anyone wanting to donate a present can drop it off at A Car 2 Go in London Road.

If you have information about the burglary call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
