Lecturer award for new designs

A DESIGN award named in memory of a university lecturer from Thame has been given to a young student who created a range of versatile seats ideal for a mobile lifestyle.

Ashish Shakuniya, from Bucks New University was given the £250 Kevin Parsloe Award for Outstanding Design Innovation so named after a senior lecturer in furniture at the university who died 19 years ago.

The award was presented to Ashish by Kevin’s widow Viv, who still lives in Thame, last month.

She said: “I could really relate to Ashish’s work and was very impressed with the delivery of concept on full scale designs, through to final product.

“My husband would have approved of my choice of award-winner.”
