WANNABE pilots in Thame can now experience what it’s like to land a real jumbo jet thanks to a flight simulator.
The state-of-the-art device has been purchased by the town’s air cadet group after a huge fundraising mission.
It includes a realistic cockpit, complete with full flying controls and all the dials, switches and instruments that are found in a real aeroplane.
The programme also allows cadets to fly RAF aircrafts and helicopters.
Cadet Abbey Bird was one of the first people to try the machine and said: “I can’t believe how realistic our new simulator is compared to what I have already experienced.
“Luckily we have trained pilots on the staff and civilian committee who can help us get airborne, stay there and get back down again in one piece too.”
The cadets raised money in 2010 and commanding officer Mike Kidley praised the Thame public for their support in all their events.
The cadets meet on Monday and Thursday nights – for more information call 07767 702277.
