Soggy cucumber sandwiches are banished from the menu now that a baker has launched her brand new bespoke afternoon tea service.
Hannah Jacques, 25, set up Hannah Bakes – which rhymes with her surname – from her home in Corbetts Way in 2012.
Now she and her partner Callum Hawes are delivering afternoon tea menu with a twist delivered right to your door – complete with crockery and hand-made cake stands.
Hannah, who has a self-confessed sweet tooth, said: “Our menu is always changing, but we usually have a selection of macarons, brownies and pastries as well as fingers sandwiches with fillings such as pastrami, pickled cucumber and mustard.
“We like to think our afternoon teas can be enjoyed by everyone – they’re not just for the dainty and delicate with the china tea set.”
Hannahbelieves the recent boom in baking was helped by the launch of BBC 1’s Great British Bake Off, and confesses that her favourite sweet treat is a triple-layer chocolate and salted caramel cake.
The baker, who used to work in events management and marketing, said: “It’s as decadent as it gets, and so satisfying.”
