A Haddenham blogger has been nominated for an award by a glossy magazine, her second prestigious title.
Hero Brown’s blog has been nominated to be Cosmopolitan’s Lifestyle Blog of the Year.
The free subscription blog, named Muddy Stilettos, includes recommendations on food, boutiques, movies, walks, pubs, shopping, days out and other topics.
The lifestyle blog has already won Dorset Cereals’ Little Blog Awards and has recently been a finalist for Best Blog in the BlogShop Blog Awards.
Ms Brown says the blogging is going ‘incredibly well’ and is pleased to see it being noticed nationally.
She said: “It’s the ‘urban guide to the countryside’ around Bucks and Oxon and it’s grown in a year from a bit of fun to a plucky powerhouse that reaches 10,000 women in the local area every month.”
Ms Brown’s blog has in fact become so popular that next month she is planning to relaunch it as a commercial blog with a ‘superfunky cool design’.
She said: “My figures have gone up every month for the last eight months.
“This month will smash last month by the looks of it too.”
To celebrate her recent Little Blog awards success, Ms Brown is giving away £130 worth of designer jewellery on Muddy Stilettos.
“It’s really beautiful stuff,” she said.
Ex-Londoner Ms Brown launched her online musings last summer.
She said: “The blog has become the place where I share my secret addresses, but I’m also finding it’s a good way to create community.
“My readers write comments and swap ideas on what they’ve tried, and it’s great that the blog helps support local businesses too.”
After winning the Little Blog Awards, Ms Brown wrote on Muddy Stilettos to thank all those that had voted for the blog.
She added: “What’s the significance? Excellent digestive tract health for my family, plus a natty knitted egg cosy to keep the family oeufs warm in the morn.
“But most importantly the pride at being able to describe my plucky little blog ‘award-winning’. Hurrah!”
Ms Brown is a former magazine editor at the Independent on Sunday, former deputy editor of Red Magazine, and has also done freelance work for The Observer, The Sunday Telegraph and Marie Claire.
