A town music shop has proved it is in tune with the digital revolution in a move aimed at dramatically boosting business.

Aylesbury Music is expected within days to be part of Google Business Photos – a revolutionary 360-degree virtual tour of premises which is taking the online world by storm.

Specialist 360-degree photographer Bob Stapleton visited the Temple Street shop earlier this week to capture every nook and cranny of the store in a series of pictures which will eventually be melded together to create a ‘walk in’ experience for potential customers.

As our video shows, the process is surprisingly simple.

Danny Prendergast, joint owner with Tony Burroughs, said: “I’m hoping people are going to see more of what we do and that they may be surprised what we actually stock – people who come in often say ‘I didn’t realise you sold that’.

“If something catches their eye and captures their interest, it’s all good and we aim to get more hits from people coming to our website.”

Aylesbury Music, whose other staff are manager Kat Campbell and technician David Burrows, are believed to be only the second Aylesbury outlet to have embraced the new technology, the other being the spectacular Rogue Racing karting track.

Shops and stores are jumping on the bandwagon globally, tempted by the hugely increased traffic to their websites and the attention the Google Business Photos commands. It is said that browsers who often spend around 30 seconds on a site can be tempted to stay for 10 or 15 minutes surveying a 360-degree ‘walk through’ 3D experience.

Stores which elect for the 3D treatment are put to little inconvenience, as the specialist photographer only needs around half an hour to complete a job. Prices vary depending on the size of the premises needing to be photographed but start at around £250.

Bob Stapleton, who covers the Thames Valley region, has completed around 100 such jobs, including 25 in Thame alone, such as Vintage & Modern Guitars.
