MP Sports Cricket Academyheld their inaugural fundraising dinner at Chinnor Rugby Club.

A sell-out crowd of 100 people were treated to an enjoyable evening hosted by BBC radio DJ Ken Bruce with special guest former England cricket captain Mike Gatting OBE.

The evening raised £7,000 for the club which will be used to install a new twin bay net facility at their home in Towersey.

During the night, Gatting entertained the audience with many infamous tales from his career and gave his views on the issues facing the sport.

He also offered words of encouragement for those working hard in the academy to develop the game for the hundreds of children that take part in the academy’s coaching and match programmes.

Manoj Parmar who runs the academy said “We have been bowled over by the support we have received for the ’dinner and the generosity shown for our fundraising.

“The new nets will mark a major step forward for the academy’s plans.”
