OXFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has been shortlisted for this year’s ‘brigade of the year’ award.
The nomination is in recognition of the brigade’s money-raising efforts for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Crews generated £111,000 in donations last year from a range of different fundraising initiatives, including car washes and fun runs.
Judith Heathcoat, cabinet member for safer and stronger communities at Oxfordshire County Council, said: “Our fire and rescue service does an excellent job and I would like to pass on my congratulations to all involved in the work that has led to this prestigious nomination.”
Dave Etheridge, chief fire officer, said: “This nomination is an impressive accolade which recognises the unwavering efforts of members of our brigade in showing support and raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
“We have raised more than £1 million for the charity and other good causes over the past decade.
“I hope that everybody is as proud as I am about this nomination as it truly is the result of a real team effort.”
The awards take place on November 4.
