At the Bucks County Show plenty of stands offered welcome refreshment to their customers.
Bidwells land agents were particularly generous, with bacon rolls in the morning and roast pork rolls in the afternoon.
Employed by them to provide the meat was award winning artisan butcher and charcutier Ricky Jeffrey.
Ricky runs his business, Egghouse Charcuterie, from Marsh and regularly attends several farmers’ markets in the area selling his incredible sausages, pates, hams and bacon.
Earlier this year his Marmite sausages were recognised by the British Pork Executive, and now his breakfast sausage has been awarded one gold star by the Guild of Fine Food in the Great Taste Awards.
He said: “I feel very pleased.I’ve been trading for only a year and have already won two awards.”
He is particularly pleased with the prestigious gold star from the Great Taste Awards. He entered at the beginning of the year with an old fashioned pork sausagemeat sausage using fresh breadcrumbs, sage and pepper.
Winners are awarded from one to three gold stars which can then be displayed on their labels and packaging for three years. Supermarkets and many independent food producers enter the awards.
In addition to this recognition Ricky is awaiting the outcome of another competition.
He is a finalist in the Bucks and Berks Food and Drink Awards and will discover the outcome of that particular competition on Friday when he attends a reception at Ascot racecourse to hear the results.
