An Aylesbury shop window will be the flashiest of the lot this week when it puts the ‘Crown Jewels’ on display.

Hester Clarke jewellers, of Cambridge Street, will offer people the chance to try on a famous replica crown 60 years after having displayed it as part of the Queen’s coronation procession.

In 1953 the jewellers had a showroom on Regent Street and showed off the replica with a lecture and film for 100 customers at a special event.

Chairman Christopher Clarke said: “It’s all ready and there for people to come and see. It will be amazing. A lot of people are over the moon to try it on.”

People can try on the crown and have a photo taken with it in exchange for a donation to Help for Heroes today (Wednesday), Friday and Saturday.
