A famous foodie cut the ribbon on a railway station’s brand new building which is part of a major upgrade across the network.
Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc took some time out from his nearby restaurant Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons to do the honours at the Haddenham & Thame Parkway, which now has a larger ticket office, a coffee shop and new toilets.
Chiltern Railways has also upgraded the cycle parking, car park lighting and created a motorcycle parking zone.
The station first opened in 1987 and in the last two years passenger numbers at the station have risen by 14%, prompting the £500,000 improvements.
Chiltern Railways managing director Rob Brighouse said: “The rebuild is transformational and a real milestone for the station.
“The work reinforces our commitment to investing in our stations and giving our passengers a high quality travel experience.”
