A FAMILY from Thame are lucky to still be alive after a fellow driver warned them their car was on fire just moments before it burst into flames.
The Green family, along with some friends, were on their way home to Thame when the driver of the car in front called for them to pull over.
It was only then that they realised their Vauxhall Zafira was in flames and luckily everybody managed to escape before the whole car went up in smoke.
The incident happened on the A418 on June 21 as Mr Green was bringing his son and fellow air cadets home from Abingdon.
Wife Tracy Green was not in the car at the time but wants to say a public thank you to the man who saved her family.
She said: “I would like to thank the gentleman who alerted my husband to the fire under our car.
“My husband did not get his name, so we would like to express our thanks and gratitude for his quick action.
“The car can be replaced but people can’t.”
Mr Green added: “The fire service and the police were brilliant. They arrived promptly and quickly put out the fire.”
