Eyewitness tells of crash horror in Oakley

A HADDENHAM motorist suffered ‘life-changing’ injuries after he was trapped in his car for 80 minutes following a head-on collision with a coach.

The 28-year-old man’s legs were trapped for more than an hour after he was involved in a crash on Thame Road in Oakley, near Morgan’s Mini Diggers.

While the extent of his injuries remain unknown, the police described the injuries as ‘life-changing’.

Mike Clare from Bicester was the first person on the scene. He was one of four people travelling on the coach at the time of the crash.

“I just hope he’s OK,” he said.

“Another passenger and I were the first to go over to the car – I didn’t want to go over at first, not knowing what to expect. We just kept him talking to keep him conscious until the emergency services arrived.

“He was in a lot of pain.”

The man, who has not been named, was taken by ambulance to John Radcliffe Hospitalin Oxford.
