MORE than 50 pensioners were treated to an afternoon of music and quizzes courtesy of charity group Aylesbury Lions.

The event at Weston Turville village hall on Sunday saw a party organised for the elderly members of the community by the Lions and OAP charity Contact the Elderly.

Guests enjoyed quizzes and entertainment, before having afternoon tea, followed by a sing-along.

Aylesbury Lions president Ron Syratt said the afternoon was a success.

“Contact the Elderly is a national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people,” he said.

“It plays a valuable role in the lives of a number of local residents.

“Every month volunteer drivers take elderly citizens to visit host families for Sunday afternoon tea.

“The Aylesbury Lions wanted to do something different this year and we were therefore delighted to organise a party for this special group of residents.

“We were very pleased with the way the afternoon went.

“The Aylesbury Lions would like to thank Morrisons, Tesco and Winslow Lions for their support.”
