A FIRE engulfed the roofs of two thatched cottages in Haddenham on Tuesday afternoon.
It took dozens of firefighters nearly five hours to control the blaze, which broke out at two semi-detached cottages in Stockwell at 3.14pm.
Thirteen fire engines attended the scene, with crews coming from as far as Wycombe and Headington.
The blaze was brought under control at 8.10pm, but relief crews remained throughout the night.
A spokesman for Bucks Fire and Rescue said it was too early to speculate on what caused the roof to catch fire.
They said the thatch was completely destroyed, and both properties suffered smoke and water damage.
