A deputy pub manager aims to walk 100km in 24hours and raise funds to buy school supplies for Kenyan children.

Serena Toh, who works at The Thatch on the Lower High Street, will walk through the night from London to Brighton on Saturday, May 24.

She will be raising money to buy vital equipment for pupils at the Emarti Primary School in the Maasai Mara, who she visited while taking part in a charity conservation project run by The Peach Foundation.

Earlier this year, she and her team-mates took some pencils to give to the children and were bowled over by their gratitude to the modest gift.

Serena said: “I was so inspired by what I saw there that I came away thinking there must be something more I could do for them.”

Her original target was £2,000 but thanks to the generosity of customers she’s already surpassed that, so is now aiming to raise £3,000,
