There were traffic jams in Aylesbury last night after a crash in Oxford Road sparked tailbacks around town.

A Mercedes and a Citroen van collided by the Bugle Horn pub shortly before 4pm.

No one was injured in the incident but the scene was not cleared until around 6.15pm.

As a result there were long queues along Oxford Road, Gatehouse Road, Friarage Road and a number of other places.

Many people took to Twitter to vent their frustration, with anger already boiling over as a result of congestion caused by ongoing work in Tring Road.

Bernie Mc tweeted: “How bad is Aylesbury’s traffic network if one, minor I believe, crash can cripple the whole town for hours?”

Cindy-Anne Munro tweeted: “Aylesbury is at a near standstill, what’s going on? It’s normally full with traffic but this is a near nightmare.”

Luke_BigCat was another Twitter user irked by the situation, saying: “Been queuing for 30 mins to get through Stone into town. Still not made it to the Co-op.”
