Trading Standards is launching a recruitment drive for volunteers to help in its undercover stings.
Community Champions leader Chris Holden said the team were seeking volunteers with ‘a keen interest in helping to build safer communities’.
“This might involve helping research local issues such as rogue traders, taking part in ‘mystery shopping’ exercises, making test purchases in the search for counterfeit goods, or increasing community awareness of doorstep trading scams.”
The Community Champions recruitment drive launches on Wednesday with a showcase of Trading Standards work, including typical covert operations, investigation gadgets used, and case studies from investigations.
From 12-2.30pm at the mezzanine meeting room in County Hall, people will be able to to see the range of Trading Standards work demonstrated and hear examples of how officers work on behalf of residents in consumer protection.
