A real ale fan who won a brewery’s competition to name its beer of the month has had the honour of pouring the first pint.

Jim Crews, from Shabbington, came up with the name Thame’in of the Brew in a competition organised by The Vale Brewery Company in Brill and the team behind the Thame Food Festival.

Mr Crews proudly poured the first pint at the brewery’s open day on Saturday (September 7).

He also picked up a certificate, pump badge and voucher for a polypin of beer.

The ale will be on tap at this month’s food festival and at watering holes around the county.

The competition was organised to get more people drinking and enjoying cask ales.
