A TOWN clerk’s suspension is to continue following allegations of gross misconduct, it was announced this week.
Aylesbury Town Council held a behind-closed-doors meeting to rule the future of Keith Turner, who has held the position for two years.
Members voted in favour of the £53,000 a year employee remaining suspended with full pay while the allegations are investigated by an external and independent contractor brought in from Luton.
Leader of the town council, Steve Patrick, said: “Mr Turner will be suspended for as long as the investigation takes.
“We are investigating allegations of gross misconduct, although we may yet pursue other avenues.
“Someone must be held responsible for the times the town council’s cemetery has appeared on the front of the Bucks Herald.”
Mr Patrick also confirmed that the acting town clerk, Keith Gray, who is being paid the same hourly rate as Mr Turner, but on a part time basis, would remain in the current acting position.
