Drivers across Aylesbury Vale are being given the choice of paying for their parking by mobile phone.

Aylesbury Vale District Council will be offering a pay-by-phone service in council-owned car parks in Aylesbury, Wendover, Winslow and Buckingham from August 8.

To use the new service, drivers have to register their vehicle and payment card details.

They will then be able to pay for parking either by calling the pay-by-phone number, going to the pay-by-phone website or using the mobile phone app.

There will also be the option to receive a text alert when the parking session is about to end.

The council’s civil enforcement officers will know which motorists have paid by phone via a secure database.

Councillor Brian Roberts, cabinet member for civic amenities, said: “We’re always looking at new ways to improve services for visitors and residents and make them more user-friendly.

“Offering people the choice of paying for parking via mobile phone is a great alternative to paying with coins and makes it much easier for people to extend their stay. We hope this encourages more people to visit and shop in our towns, more often.”

Information will be displayed at the car parks to inform motorists how to pay by text, online or by using the mobile phone app.

The service will be available in addition to the existing cash pay and display machines.

To register, visit the paybyphone.co.uk website or call 0330 400 76275.
