A former railway worker with no scientific background has created a potent product which is said to be taking the angling world by storm.
Aylesbury’s Trevor Price has spent four years creating ‘Stinky Stuff’, an additive which is sprayed on bait and stimulates fish to feed.
The product is believed to be the first of its kind on the market and has delivered impressive results. Now it is drawing the attention of companies from around the world, including Russia, the United States and Germany.
Mr Price said: “It’s such an exciting project.
“Everybody in the angling world is talking about it.
“It catches fish when nothing else does.”
The married inventor, who has no background in scientific research, came up with the idea using his knowledge of fishing and by trying out different mixtures in his garden to see what worked best.
However he could only take the idea so far and has enlisted the help of Tring-based flavourings, extracts and aromas firm Stringers.
He has also been able to attract investment from around the country, including Milton Keynes and Bolton.
Mr Price said: “My passion is fishing and looking to get the edge.
“Over the years I have been getting hold of different additives, breaking them down and building them up.
“Stringers believed in me and afforded me the luxury of using their laboratories and chemists.
“I came up with the idea and they have tweaked everything and helped me. If it weren’t for them I would never have got to this point.
“It has taken us four years but we have got there.”
After years of dedication which has seen family holidays cancelled in order to develop Stinky Stuff, Mr Price is finally reaping the benefits and expects the product to turn a healthy profit.
He said: “Over the weekend we have had people from Germany and Holland contact us. I have got a meeting this week to get stuff out to Russia.
“We have got a big company who want to buy it from us and get it into America.
“If we can crack America it would be fantastic.
“It’s a really exciting time for us at the moment.”
