An independent furniture store is hoping to connect more with local people by featuring them in their adverts.

Lucas Furniture, of Rabans Lane, Aylesbury, has began its spring advertising campaign using local people and businesses in their own surroundings.

Marketing coordinator Nathalie Haysom said: “We are a local and independent company and have been here almost 115 years.

“It’s a case of connecting with local people. We are not like the multi-national companies we do something different here.”

Ms Haysom said the adverts, which have featured the likes of Alison and Jim of Barr’s Nurseries, which sells household plants, have also helped improve business for their local models.

She added: “The guys at the nursery said it has helped them. It works well if they are a local business.

“The whole idea is to get people to visit the store.

“People relate to it more if people are local.

“It’s a very different feel from using professional models to using people in their own environment. ”

The first advert for the spring campaign ran on April 8 and Ms Haysom they would be looking for new local models for the summer advertisements.
