MORE than eight million cards and enough wrapping paper to stretch from Buckingham to Beaconsfield 50 times over will be used in Bucks this Christmas.

In response the county’s waste partnership is urging residents to recycle as much of it as possible after December 25.

Bill Lidgate, chairman of the Joint Waste Committee, said: “Everyone knows that recycling is great for the environment, but at Christmas we are faced with more waste than usual and it can be tricky to know what can be recycled.

“The simple answer is that most waste can be recycled, but we ask residents to please check their council’s website for information on what can be collected from home and what should be taken elsewhere .”
