Long Crendon might not be famous for its cold weather and wintry conditions but this week saw Gordon Rogers make a claim for Britain’s longest icicle.

Measured at about 54 inches, Mr Rogers believed it would be close to the record but despite looking impressive, it fell some way short.

In March, an icicle on a bridge in Grantown, Scotland, was measured to be a staggering 27 ft.

This photo was taken on Christmas Day but all the icicles had gone by Tuesday as the warmer weather moved in and snow and ice started to finally melt.
