A petition calling for the independence of Kashmir has been handed to Aylesbury MP David Lidington.

Mohammed Khan and three colleagues handed over the petition which has more than 700 signatures collected from Aylesbury residents of Kashmir origin during the past six months.

The petition is one of several being handed to MPs throughout the country requesting a debate in parliament on the human rights situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which is presently under Indian administration.

Supporters hope to progress the right to self determination for all Kashmiris.

Mr Lidington said he will discuss it with his parliamentary colleagues.
