Aylesbury College’s catering and hospitality apprentices beat the Raymond Blanc Cookery School in a fun ‘cook off’ at the Thame Food Festival.

This is the third consecutive year that the contest has taken place and the score now stands at 2-1 in favour of the college. College tutor Rick Simons, pictured far left with the team, oversaw the challenge.

The second and third year apprentices worked in the demo kitchen accompanied by Le Manoir Eco brigade volunteers at the annual food festival event in Thame town centre.

The event is a showcase for local food and drink producers and retailers in the region.

There were demonstrations and children’s workshops as well as street entertainment.

Patron of the event is TV chef and writer Lotte Duncan and Le Manoir’s Raymond Blanc OBE is the ambassador.

Christian Moulinier, commercial manager from Aylesbury College, said: “As well as being fantastic fun, this was an excellent opportunity for the students to work alongside celebrity chefs, expanding their experiences and giving them another taste of the world of food.”

Aylesbury College had a stall at the festival promoting what the College can offer in terms of hospitality education provision, as well as its own Harding’s restaurant.
