NEARLY 400 competitors braced the wind and the rain on Sunday to take part in the Thame Triathlon.
The brave athletes completed a 400m pool swim, an 11 mile cycle ride to Chinnor and a final 5km run around the Phoenix Trail.
First to cross the line was Ben Howard of Primera, who beat the other 388 competitors in a time of 53 minutes, 58 seconds.
Ben posted the fastest time in both the bike ride and the run and was the second fastest swimmer of the day.
The first lady finisher was Manuela Maxwell of Chesham Triathlon Club with a time of 64 minutes, nine seconds.
That put her in a creditable 24th place overall.
Many of the town’s athletes also took part in their home race, with two members of Thame Runners grabbing the top positions for their age groups.
Alison Croughton won the 45-49 age category while Reg Gale won the 60-64 age group in his first ever triathlon.
In all there was 10 people taking part from Thame Runners
There was also 15 relay teams who took part, where a different person completed each of the three disciplines.
