Thame students celebrate making the grades

TWINS, who are head boy and girl at Lord Williams's School in Thame, were amongst those celebrating after the A level results were published yesterday.
Ashley and Bonnie Cooke gained six A levels between them, three each with A grades. Ashley passed Chemistry, Physics and Maths, while Bonnie got the top grades in English Literature, Art and History.

Staff were pleased with the school's overall results. Fifty per cent of students achieved A or B grades, while out of 582 examination entries 98 per cent of pupils achieved pass grades.

Headteacher, David Wybron said: "I would like to congratulate all our students who have gained such pleasing results and to thank staff for all they have done, through their teaching and pastoral support, to bring this about.

"Today, students staff and families share feelings of great pleasure in individual achievement at a very high level."

Five students achieved four A grades. They were Harry Allen, Lucy Burgess, Rachel Forsyth, Kirsty Harris and Christopher Williams. Christopher will be going to Cambridge University to study Maths and will celebrate his results in Winchester with friends.

Three A grades were awarded to the following students: Harriet Buggey, Jasmine Coll, Laura Crowland, Hannah Danks, Jim Furness, Eilise Norris, Rachel Rice, Melanie Rose, Elliot Stevens, Suzie Watson, Dan Wazynski and Harriet Westby as well as the head boy and girl.

Elizabeth Greaves, Claire Lasko and Eilise Norris will be mixing with the cream of the crop after securing places at Oxford University.
Claire was excited with her prestigious place at Oxford and was looking forward to studying at the city.

She said: "I am studying Biochemistry there and I would like to go into medical research eventually."

She will be letting her hair down after many weeks of revision and will be go to a nightclub to celebrate her results.

Kate Sheehan, head of sixth form said she was pleased with the overall results across the ability range: "We are so proud of the fantastic achievements of our sixth formers. Many are now able to take up their places at university and have very bright futures ahead of them."
