WORLD champion cyclist Nicole Cooke, the first member of team GB to scoop a gold at Beijing, was coached along her path to Olympic victory by an international coach from Thame.
High performance road cycling coach, Dr Gordon Wright has trained Nicole since last year when he set her on a dedicated training regime which has dominated her life in the run up to the games.

Dr Wright said Nicole, an established athlete with medals to her name, came to him in June last year to help her dad, Tony train her for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

They only met about six times throughout the entire training programme, but Dr Wright went to visit her in Switzerland during the training course.

Nicole out-sprinted all three rivals at the end of the 126 km women's road race to secure a gold medal, the first ever by a female British cyclist.
