MANDEVILLE School hosted a wedding with a difference at the weekend as a local couple got married in a traditional Pathan-style wedding.

More than 5,000 guests were present over the course of the three days of the event.

The wedding of Ali Lehan and his bride, who The Bucks Herald was asked not to name for religious reasons, was attended by many leading local authority figures and politicians including Aylesbury’s mayor Jenny Puddefoot as well as local councillors including Freda Roberts and Nicknam Hussain.

Raj Khan, the uncle of the groom, thanked the police for their support with the event. “I would like to thank Thames Valley Police for their help and co-operation, and for ensuring it all ran smoothly.

“I would also like to thank all the local residents for their support and understanding.”

Mr Khan also thanked the school for allowing them to stage the event. It was chosen to allow the couple to share the wedding with the community.

“I hope people appreciate this was a once-in-a lifetime event and it did not cause too much inconvenience with regards to noise and traffic,” he added.
